I am a Professor of Computing Science at the University of Aberdeen, and also Chief Scientist of Arria NLG. In both of my jobs, I focus on Natural Language Generation (NLG) technology, that is software which using artificial intelligence and natural language processing techniques to automatically produce high-quality texts and narratives, from non-linguistic data.
In addition to this blog and website, I also have a homepage at Aberdeen University. I also occasionally write blogs for Arria, which are intended for non-specialist audiences.
Outside of work, I am president of the Aberdeen Synagogue and Jewish Community Centre.
