I am a Professor of Computing Science at the University of Aberdeen, and also Chief Scientist of Arria NLG.  In both of my jobs, I focus on Natural Language Generation (NLG) technology, that is software which using artificial intelligence and natural language processing techniques to automatically produce high-quality texts and narratives, from non-linguistic data.

In addition to this blog and website, I also have a homepage at Aberdeen University.  I don’t have a homepage at Arria, but the Arria blog includes several  blogs from me, including a “5-in-5” interview which describes some of what I do at Arria.

Outside of work, I am involved in the Aberdeen Synagogue and Jewish Community Centre.
